Exhibition of Greek contemporary printmaking in Japan
The Greek Printmaker’s Association is preparing an important exhibition of Greek printmaking in Japan. 50 works in print will form a comprehensive representation of Contemporary Greek Printmaking.
The first phase of the exhibition will open in August 2019 at the Washi-no-Sato exhibition space, which is situated in the area of Saitama, 70 kilometers north-west from Tokyo. This is an important handmade paper workshop which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
In November 2019, the exhibition will be transported to the Metropolitan Museum in Tokyo for the second phase of the exhibition.
These exhibitions are the result of years of cooperation between the Greek Printmaker’s Association and the Japan Print Society. In March 2019, the Greek public honored the exhibition of Contemporary Greek and Japanese Printmaking which took place with great success at the Municipal Art Gallery in Piraeus.
This cooperation is part of an ambitious exhibition program by the Greek Printmaker’s Association in cooperation with cultural organizations abroad, with the intention of enriching the public’s perception of modern printmaking and the contribution of Greek printmakers to its development.
The Greek Printmaker’s Association is responsible for the curation of the exhibition.
